Languages of European leaders
Most heads of government of European countries speak more than one language, almost always including English.

France[edit]
French President Emmanuel Macron speaks French as his first language and English as his second language.[1]
Germany[edit]
German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz speaks German as his first language and English as his second language.[2]
Since World War II, most German politicians have been able to speak English. Former Prime Minister Angela Merkel can speak German, English and Russian.[1]
United Kingdom[edit]
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak predominantly speaks English, but due to his Indian heritage, he also speaks basic Hindi and Punjabi.[3]
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson speaks English as his first language and French as his second language. It is also said he has some knowledge of Ancient Greek, German, Italian, Latin and Spanish.[1]
