Lantronix, Inc. is an American company providing Internet of things (IoT) products. Lantronix is headquartered in Irvine, California. The company is known for being a major player in the device server, connectivity, and Information technology management markets. The company was founded in June 1989 by Bernhard Bruscha.[1] Lantronix's mission is to "simplify... IoT projects while providing secure access to data".[2]
Lantronix develops machine to machine (M2M) technologies.[3]
On December 7, 2015, Lantronix announced Jeffrey Benck as President and Chief Executive Officer.[4] This change marked a shift in Lantronix towards an IoT solution and Information technology management company. In order to achieve this goal, the management team was rehauled. One of the major changes was bringing in a new Vice President of marketing Shahram Mehraban.[5]

Early years[edit]
Lantronix was founded in 1989 in Irvine, California by Bernhard Bruscha.[6] The company entered the print server market in 1993 and introduced the first single-port external device server a couple of years later (1995).
Fred Thiel Era[edit]
Fred Thiel was introduced as the CEO in 1998 and helped the company become public in August 2000.[7]
Marc Nussbaum Era[edit]
In 2002 Lantronix introduced Marc Nussbaum as the company's CEO. A year later the XPort was introduced as the first fully integrated embedded server. Under Nussbaum, the company grew into an IT management company.[8] The introduction of the Lantronix Spider was the first step into the ITM market.
Jerry Chase Era[edit]
In February 2008, Lantronix announced Jerry Chase as their new CEO.[9] Lantronix would develop the XPort Pro the world's smallest Linux networking server.[10]
Kurt Busch Era[edit]
At the company's annual stockholder meeting Kurt Busch was elected as the new CEO (August 23, 2011).[11] During his time, the Lantronix's xPrintServer bloomed, achieving numerous awards.[12] The product would pivot the company into the smartphone and tablet printing business. On November 18, 2015, Kurt Busch resigned from his role as CEO.
Jeff Benck Era[edit]
Jeffrey Benck would be introduced as the company's current CEO on December 7, 2015.[13] Benck was previously the CEO of Emulex. The goal was to propel Lantronix into the next level and strengthen Lantronix's position as a market leader in the industrial internet of things (IoT).[14] Benck has brought stock prices to their highest point since 2008.[15]
