Lara Julian (born 29 July 1981) is a Russian artist living and working in London.[1]
Education and early life[edit]
Lara Julian was born in 1981 to an artistic family in Siberia. Her grandmother was a poet, while her mother is an art historian and her father is a figurative artist.[2] Her family is currently residing in Catalonia, Spain. The upbringing in a creative household allowed Lara to display her interest in art at a very early age. However, a highly traditional attitude to art education in Siberia did not suit Julian’s abstract approach to painting and discouraged her from creating art for many years. Lara graduated with a degree in International Relations from Tomsk State University in 2002. In 2006 she graduated with a Masters Degree in International Banking from the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management, which allowed her to continue a successful career in banking. Lara abandoned her career in finance in 2013 in favor of artistic education at the School of Visual Arts in New York.[3] In 2015 - 2019, Lara undertook studies at the Slade School of Fine Art which largely shaped her artistic style.
