Many casting announcements were for the American television series Wednesday, which also included the English actress Gwendoline Christie for a starring role, reported by entertainment news Deadline Hollywood on September 15, 2021.[2] Revealed to be a fictional character named Larissa Weems, she is depicted to be an endless rival to Morticia Addams while being a principal for Nevermore Academy.[3]

When approached of this opportunity, Christie originally did not intend to do a major acting role after she finished her appearance with television series Game of Thrones (2011–2019). Although, she felt relief for not being tied to the franchise and told Elle, "It seemed exciting. It felt like I could give everything to this project—and I'd wanted to work with Tim Burton my entire life."[4]

Reception

Disclosing the involvement of Gwendoline Christie, entertainment news Vulture believed the actress will be a "natural fit" for the fictional character, mentioning her previous act as Captain Phasma (belonging from the Star Wars franchise).[5]
