Thulasizwe Dlamini (born September 20) better known by his stage name Lastee, is a South African singer, songwriter, and record producer. He grew up in Durban where he was raised by a single mother who passed on in 2005. Lastee is most known for a soundtrack titled "Ring Of Lies"[1] which was later released as a full length song after trending for many weeks as he first produced it as a theme song for a series that plays from Monday to Thursday on Mzansi Magic titled "Ring Of Lies".[1]
Early life and career[edit]
Born in South Africa, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Durban, Lastee emerged in the wake of the influence of the hip-hop culture in South Africa who is a self-taught musician. He started in an informal studio using cheap software and a computer to make music because he couldn't afford studio time. He started producing because he couldn’t afford to pay other producers and began to learn how to make music for himself. There he advanced his interest in working with a lot of artists who liked his way of making music and refining his musical talent. He gained experience to a point where he needed to release his own music starting with Radar EP,[2] which is his first body of work after Ring Of Lies.[3] Radar EP was rated under the top 8 of Durban's great projects of 2016.[4] Later after releasing Radar EP, Lastee worked on a lot of features with fellow musician like Stogie T (Also known as Tumi) - Going Gorilla,[5] Maraza - We On,[6] and Duncan - Enzo.[7]
Lastee's work has received awards and nominations in award ceremonies such as a Metro Award winning remix produced for Duncan titled "Tsiki Tsiki", featuring AKA, Mampintsha and Professor.[8]
