Laura Miano is an Australian sex therapist, columnist, and sexologist based in Melbourne.[1][2]
Early life
Miano was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia.[3] From a young age, Miano developed an interest in sexuality, influenced by erotic films and hip-hop music with sexual themes, and grew up in a household where sex was not considered shameful. She later pursued a degree in Psychology, followed by a master’s degree in Sexology, completed in 2020.[4]
Career
After completing a Bachelor of Psychological Science at Deakin University and a Master of Science in Medicine (Sexual and Reproductive Health) at the University of Sydney, Miano became a professional sexologist and a member of the Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS), the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), and the Asia-Oceania Federation of Sexology (AOFS). She founded Miano Clinical Sexology, a sex therapy clinic. According to Miano, her practice focuses on "women, vulva-owners and fems". She is also the co-founder of the sex toys concept store Posmo.[5]
Miano has contributed columns to publications including Vice,[6] Poosh,[7] Fashion Journal,[8] and Man of Many,[9] and has been consulted by ABC News,[10] Refinery29,[11] Body+Soul,[12] Cosmopolitan,[13] Allure,[14] and Vogue Australia.[15]
