Laured Kalari https://lauredkalari.com/ (born 17 December 1994) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He was Elected councillor of Rowley in 2021 with a majority of 178 votes (4.6% majority). He is the first Conservative councillor to win an election in the ward of Rowley since the creation of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council in 1973. This is despite Rowley being in the Conservative constituency of Halesowen and Rowley Regis, held by James Morris MP.
He became leader of the opposition in December 2021, shortly after the resignation of the previous leader,Councillor David Fisher, following the publication of historic racist tweets. Councillor Laured Kalari was subsequently suspended from the Conservative Party in February 2022 following allegations of racist, misogynist and islamophobic tweets (BBC). He denied any affiliation with the online content, claiming he was a victim of an internal conflict within the Sandwell Conservatives. After a 6 month investigation involving law enforcement and legal representatives, he was cleared of any wrong doing (BBC) and readmitted back into the Conservative Party in June 2022. He currently sits as a Conservative Councillor in Rowley, West Midlands.
