Summary[edit]

Lauren Babic (born December 9, 1990) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician from Toronto, Ontario. She is the lead vocalist of Canadian progressive metal band Red Handed Denial and international post-hardcore collaboration trio CrazyEightyEight.[1] Since joining Red Handed Denial in 2008, the band has released two full-length albums Redeemer (2019)[2] and Stories of Old (2013) and two extended plays Wanderer (2016) and Eyes and Liquid Skies (2009). Since the formation of CrazyEightyEight in 2017, the band has released one full-length album Burning Alive (2018) and three extended plays No Words Spoken (2017), Covers, Vol. 1 (2017) and Covers, Vol. 2 (2017).[3]

Babic also pursues solo music endeavours, having started her eponymous YouTube channel in 2009 where she posts original music, covers, vocal instructional videos[4], and other music related content that has since garnered over 400,000 subscribers.[5] On July 24, 2020, she released her first solo original pop extended play entitled Silence Is The Only Sound.[6]

Babic is also a certified OCT teacher.[7] She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Education degree from Nipissing University.[8] She did not want to pursue music academically because of the formalities and lack of creativity.[9][8] Babic is a self-taught vocalist and she has stated that the first time she ever sang in front of other people was during her audition for her band Red Handed Denial.[10][11][8]
