Laurence Hutchman

Laurence Hutchman (born 1948) is a poet and English professor at Université de Moncton since 1990.[1] He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up in North York, Toronto.[2] He completed his BA in English at the University of Western Ontario in 1972, his MA in English at Concordia University in 1979, and his Ph.D at the Université de Montréal in 1988.

In 1974, he married Mary Downey, in Toronto. Their two children were born in Montreal: Sean in 1980 and Emma in 1984. Other than Université de Moncton, he has also taught at Concordia University, University of Alberta, and University of Western Ontario.[1]He was divorced in 2015 and married the artist and poet, Eva Kolacz.

He participated in Dial-A-Poem Montreal from 1985 to 1987.[3]
