Lawmage Academy is an upcoming role-playing video game created by Jin Arabejo, under his alias "Verinius".[1] The story features a silent protagonist, who has been invited to enter Lawmage Academy, a prestigious magic school.
The full version of the game is scheduled for release in 2023.[2]
Gameplay[edit]

You will spend your days attending classes and learning new abilities, and also wander around campus, meet a variety of characters, craft items using ingredients you’ve gathered, and even leave the safety of the school to explore diverse locations filled with monsters, mystery, and danger.
Premise[edit]
Set in the 11th century, a country full of wonders called Magusgaia, a main setting that takes place for a prestigious magic school known as "Lawmage Academy", allows to train students to learn magic and become one of the superiors as "Lawmages". The player must accomplish the main quest as long as you uncover the dark secrets.
Development[edit]
Lawmage Academy was conceived by Gian Miko “Jin” Arabejo, known as under his alias "Verinius", after he concepts the idea about "a certain magic school game with a linear story and magical elements" once he wanted to make a fantasy game with story-driven experiences, where he has taken much inspiration from the Harry Potter and Black Clover series, and the video games Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis and Octopath Traveler. From that moment, it was given the official name "Lawmage Academy".[1]
In March 2018, he started using the RPG Maker MV game engine and practicing his idea as a prototype after watching tutorials, in which he counts “one hour a day for one year” commitment. As a part of human rights lawyer, he is currently working as a part-time indie dev for studying level design, as well as writing dialogue, world-building, meaningful choices, interior design, day-and-night cycle for doing activities, and magical skills, but he gives practice for programming.[3]
Battle mechanics[edit]
Like most of RPG Maker games were used for turn-based role-playing genre, Lawmage Academy was used for Octopath Traveler combat style using one of third-party MV Javascript plugins.
Composers[edit]
Tyler Cline, who serves as a composer the new main theme and battle music, and the other composers will also serve in the game including Will Geraint Drake, Lewmoth, Philemon Holmes, Peter Jones, and Dibur. Some updates would release the following year.[4]
Versions[edit]
The first alpha version was the initial release as a prototype to introduce the story and core mechanics at first. It keeps updating with bug fixes in the next three versions. Since its summer 2019 release on itch.io, the fifth alpha version of Lawmage Academy was released. Debuting on Steam in October 2020,[5] the sixth alpha version of Lawmage Academy featured a graphics improvement, rebalanced gameplay, and some rework of the core mechanics. The seventh alpha version is updated for storylines and more improved visuals. The eighth and latest alpha version known as Soloist Update, a refined version for the solo route along with new battle backgrounds, balance changes, some added features, and bug fixes.
As of June 2022, the core mechanics and character development were greatly improved and playtime is shorter than the previous versions.
