Calvin Lee Vail, also known as Leafy, is an American YouTuber and commentator.[1]
Career[edit]
Vail started his channel in 2011, and uploaded his first video in 2013. He focuses mainly on commentary, and his videos often include him talking over gameplay footage of video-games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Superhot. He was very active on the platform and had amassed 4.8 million subscribers at his channel's peak, before he left for a hiatus in December 2018.
He returned to YouTube in April 2020 with a video responding to controversy surrounding another YouTuber iDubbbz, after which he resumed posting frequently.[2] 'Leafy' has went to back posting videos averaging of 5 minutes which contain mainly of commentary leading to a punchline, some may say he is striking back at everyone who damaged his career leading to his disappearance.
Controversies[edit]
Vail's channel has been subject to numerous controversies. Many of which stem from what is seen as his cyber bullying of children and those with disabilities.
In 2016, Vail allegedly mocked a man with a learning disability, according to Bryan Menegus of Gizmodo, he had also earlier made fun of an autistic man TommyNC2010, after which YouTube and Reddit communities rallied behind Tommy, prompting Vail to issue an apology.[3]
