Lee Beard
Lee Beard (born 1975 in Salford, England) is a British boxing trainer. He is most well known for his work as assistant trainer to Ricky Hatton. He was also the trainer of Ricky's younger brother Matthew Hatton. When his trainer died, Beard took over the running of his gym at the age of 27. Beard trained in Taekwondo and kickboxing before becoming a boxing coach.
Beard has worked with Floyd Mayweather Sr. since 2004, and was heavily involved in Mayweather's decision to become the trainer of Ricky Hatton in 2008.[1] Floyd Mayweather Sr. has praised Beard by stating "Me and Lee really see eye to eye. He’s on the right track and it's just a matter of time before he really shows us what he can do. He definitely has what it takes to be at the top."[2]
Beard has parted company with Ricky and Matthew Hatton [3]
Beard has a step-son Adrian Gonzalez[4] who began his professional boxing career on the undercard of the Ricky Hatton - Paul Malignaggi fight on 22 November 2008.
