Leepiei Green, known as LP Green, is an American actor and movie director who has appeared in a variety of films and television shows.[1][2][3] He is best known for IFC's Comedy Bang Bang Season 3 & Season 4.[4]
Early life[edit]
Leepiei Green was born in Springfield, Southern Illinois[5], but he was raised in many different places: Carbondale, Illinois, San Diego, California and New York City. He was a martial artist and instructor, skateboarder, and musician before his love for movies became his only job. [6] At the age of 17 he landed a recording contract as a singer in the band ClayFace. He graduated from San Diego City College. His love for movies started when he was very young. During his childhood, in the early 80s, his mother would rent movies from Blockbuster on weekends, and he would be left with his VCR and the movies.[7] However, he didn't start working with movies right away. During elementary school, he landed a role as Injun Joe in the school play "Adventures of Tom Sawyer". He started studying film at the age of 15 years old.[8] At the age of 16, Green's interest of the film developed when he saw the movie Real Genius with Val Kilmer and took a film production class in high school at La Jolla, Ca.[9] While attending La Jolla High School, Leepiei studied film and acting and went on to direct, act and choreograph all the fight scenes for his own version of Kung Fu Theater.[10] During his career, he started using his stage name "LP Green", a shortened version of his name, and today he is known by that name alone. He is always credited as LP Green, and he is now referred with this name alone. With his work being recognized, he is becoming one of the risings stars among producers.
Career[edit]
During his adolescent years, LP took a film production class while in high school in La Jolla, CA. He later moved from San Diego to Hollywood to pursue his career as a filmmaker.[11][12] His style was influenced by a mixture of horror films and John Hughes’s movies. This became the origin of his fundamental education in acting and film making. He acted in various films throughout his early career while making his mark in 2018, where he won ”Best Supporting Actor” for his character, ”Jamal,” at the IndieFest Film Awards. His film, that he wrote and directed, also won “Best African-American Picture” in the 2018 Indie Festival.[13][14]
