Christopher Lund (born March 16, 1984), better known by his stage nameLeft/Right,[1] is an American Producer, Professor, DJ, and Audio Engineer of a variety of electronic music including breakbeathouse, garage, and bass music.[2][3] He is signed to Stanton Warriors’ London-based record label Punks Music.[4][2]

Early Life[edit]

Lund grew up in Dallas, Texas in a musical family learning to play cello at age 5 and both piano and guitar at age 10. After learning to DJ at age 17, his interests in music lead him to study at the University of North Texas and Collin College, where he earned degrees in both Audio Engineering and Music Composition by 2007.[1][2][5]

Music Career[edit]

After graduating University of North Texas, Left/Right created an audio engineering business in Deep Ellum, as well as developing some of his early projects; including Chris Broke It, Team Awesome, and eventually Left/Right.[2]

By 2010 he released several songs and was invited to play at the International Breakbeat Awards at Fabric in London.[6]

In 2011 Left/Right was tapped to remix The Crystal Method, and shortly after, he began producing local events entitled as FUTURE. These events featured art installations and live DJ's.[4] He also began teaching as a professor of Audio Engineering at Collin College in Plano, TX.

The Stanton Warriors discovered his new work in 2015 and signed him to Punks Music.[4][2] UKF notes that he returned “with a much deeper, more measured sound on Stanton Warriors’ Punks imprint with the agenda-setting Time EP.”[3]

In 2016, Left/Right created the record label BRØKEN in collaboration with Zander, curating a spectrum of dark UK Bass music and promoting events in Dallas, Texas.

2017 saw Left/Right’s release on Dirtybird with his remix of Shiba San’s Up & Down. He also debuted his compilation Punks Shadow Selection.[5] Insomniac notes that the compilation “includes My Nu Leng, Evil Nine, Taiki Nulight, Distro, and collaborations with Isenberg, Zander, and recurring partner jACQ…which connect the wide-ranging spectrum of sound he’s thrown down.”[5][3]

That same year Left/Right announced the Summer Shadows Tour, and released the single, “Leave It.”[7] This single scored a 9.5 in an article by DJ Mag, in which they described Left/Right as having “a sound all his own… one of destructive, darkling bass line energy combined with an uncanny knack for delivering the most brutally perfect melodies.”[7]
