Let's Fall in Love for the Night is a song written and produced by American singer-songwriter Finneas O'Connell. It was released as a single on October 19, 2018, and later appeared on his debut EP Blood Harmony. It reached number 20 on the US Billboard Alternative Songs.
Background[edit]
The song reflects for his love of love songs. It is about a girl he never met in person and finds comfort by dreaming that they can be together in an alternate universe, if only temporarily. O'Connell stated in an interview with Billboard: "I love pop songs so much and I don’t put a ton of pressure on myself as a solo artist to always write the most commercial feeling thing, I just want to write things I would love to listen to. This feels like one of those."[1]
Music video[edit]
A music video for the song was released on March 19, 2020. The video was directed by Sam Bennett and was shot in one take. It first starts with Finneas playing a ukulele on a rooftop of a building to looking at the Los Angeles skyline. As the song continues, he’s joined by a crew of dancers who perform choreography with him as he continues singing.[2]
