Let's be Cousins is a British animated sitcom web series created, directed, and produced by Harry Mayers. The series focuses on a hyperactive teen, the Hazard, having to put up with his boring cousin, Tom, who is the polar-opposite of him. Based on Mayers' teenage years living in the Rossendale Valley.
The pilot season that consists of ten episodes premiered 20 January 2020.[1]
Premise[edit]
The series is set in the fictional town of Rottenstall, focusing on two teens forced to live with each other - The Hyperactive Hazard (Harry Mayers), and his lazy relative, Tom (Matt Hulme). Throughout the series, the Hazard attempts to involve Tom in all his antics in an attempt to reignite Tom's enthusiasm for fun again, but doesn't realise Tom's maturity is rubbing off on him at the same time.[2]
Cast and Characters[edit]
- Hazard (Voiced by Harry Mayers) - An hyperactive teenager constantly trying to relieve his boredom. Because he's not as energetic as he used to be, he's made himself addicted to lemonade to keep his energy levels high.
- Tom (Voiced by Matt Hulme) - Tom is Hazard's lazy cousin who can't be bothered doing anything. Because he's living with Hazard, he's constantly dragged into activities he wants no part in.
- Frank (Voiced by Just Jason) - Frank is Hazard's dim-witted best friend. He gets a kick out of being controversial and winding people up. To Hazard's dismay, Frank idolises how cool his cousin, Tom, is despite him being the most uninteresting person of the group.
- Wilson (Voiced by Matt Hulme) - Wilson is Hazard's recluse and paranoid friend from school. He doesn't enjoy the outdoors and believes everything is dangerous, but Hazard and Frank always break into his home to mess him around.
- Mister Ziggy (Voiced by Harry Mayers) - Hazard's overly happy and generous next-door neighbour. He's always seen drinking coffee and offering it to everyone, but Hazard is suspicious that Mister Ziggy is either a figment of his imagination or up to no good as a person that nice can't exist.
Production[edit]
Harry Mayers had never gotten along with his cousin, Tom Blackburn, until their teen years where they discovered the same-found love for film as one another. Mayers had always drawn comic strips all throughout his time high school, which led to him approaching Blackburn about developing Let's Be Cousins as Hazard House Studio's Launch Project.
Having produced 10 mini episodes for a pilot season, Hazard House Studios is currently working on full first season.
