Lewis Martin Soucy is a French film director, scriptwriter and cinematographer born in Montreal (1968-08-25) August 25, 1968 (age 56).

Biography[edit]

In 1994, he directed his first professional short film, Crises de Têtes (Heads Crisis), a 16mm black and white comedy featuring up and coming young actors of the French film scene of the 90's, Marie Vinoy, Olivier Mag, Jérôme L'Hotsky and Patrice Abbou.

In 1996, he moved to Paris where he works for various Canal+ network channels until 2000. First Ciné Cinéma, Canal Jimmy, Canal + Horizons then 13ème Rue for Universal Studios.

In 2013 he helmed the cinematography for the Algerian action film Algeria forever - Gates of the Sun directed by Jean-Marc Mineo. The film stars Algerian actor Zakaria Ramdane, the French actor Smaïn, the singer Lorie and the American boxing star Mike Tyson and becomes the first Algerian action blockbuster.

In 2004, he directed Handicap, a short film dealing with the theme of deafness which was selected "Coup de Coeur" (Best of Fest) at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival and won numerous international awards. He then directed six other short films, I do, Between the lions, Se vende perro que habla, 10 euros (Talking dog for sale, 10 euros), The Blue Dress and Just do you, all selected "Coup de Coeur" in Cannes Film Festival.

In 2012, his short film Se vende perro que habla, 10 euros (Talking dog for sale, 10 euros) was screened at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood and qualified for the Oscars.

Since 2015, he has directed numerous music videos, including Girl it's true, a remix of the song True by the British band Spandau Ballet for the French touch electro Marseille duo Superfunk performed by Lucky Star singer Ron Carroll. His music video for French Latina singer Luyanna and reggaeton star Farruko have garnered millions of views on YouTube. He also directs La Distancia for Luyanna, a remix of the 80's classic song Africa in duet with ToTo singer Bobby Kimball.

In 2018, he directed the Algerian television series "Darkious and Makious" (دقيوس و مقيوس, in Arabic). The series was an audience breaker and became the biggest success on Echorouk TV during Ramadan 2018, and won the Best Comedy Award.

In July 2018 he joined the team of the number one French drama series Plus Belle La Vie as a director. The series, produced by TelFrance Series, is broadcast Monday to Friday at 8:20 p.m. on France 3.
