Lhoopa Inc. is a Philippine property technology company that operates in the affordable housing sector. Founded in 2018, the company provides a digital platform to facilitate residential property transactions. The platform connects buyers, contractors, brokers, and financing institutions, and covers processes including land acquisition, property renovation, and buyer move-in. According to the company, it serves low- to middle-income market segments in the Philippines.[1]
History
Lhoopa was founded in 2018 by Marc-Olivier Caillot and Sabrina Tan. The company began operations in the Philippines, focusing on the acquisition, renovation, and sale of residential properties at affordable price points. The Asian Development Bank described the target demographic as including individuals employed in occupations such as driving, security, factory work, teaching, and office administration.[2]
The company expanded its operations to multiple cities across the Philippines. Following a major funding round in 2024, Lhoopa's CEO announced pilot projects in Indonesia.[3] In the first half of 2025, the company recorded 2.5 times more homes sold compared to the same period in 2024.[4]
Funding
In 2024, Lhoopa raised approximately USD 80 million in a combination of equity and debt financing.[5][6] The equity portion of USD 20 million was co-led by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Wavemaker Partners, with participation from Pavilion Capital, 10X Group, Concentric Equity Partners, Mirath Investments, and NataRock Partners Fund.[7]
The Asian Development Bank provided a USD 20 million revolving credit facility for housing projects in the Philippines.[8] Additional debt facilities were provided by the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Lendable.
Earlier funding rounds included approximately USD 9.5 million raised to support growth and operations.[9]
Operations
Lhoopa operates a platform that connects brokers, contractors, developers, and financing partners involved in residential property transactions. Its model includes acquiring and renovating properties and buying through financing programs such as those offered by the Pag-IBIG Fund.[1]
The platform incorporates artificial intelligence tools for land assessment and real-time supply-demand matching. It integrates a decentralized network of contractors, brokers, and agents. Through mobile applications, partners manage property listings, track construction progress, and handle legal documentation and payments. According to the company, the average homebuyer has a monthly income of approximately PHP 20,000 (around USD 350).[10]
Impact
As of mid-2025, Lhoopa had facilitated homeownership for nearly 7,000 low- to middle-income families across 64 cities in the Philippines.[11] According to the company, approximately 75% of buyers had no other viable path to homeownership before using the platform.[1]
The Philippines faces a housing shortage estimated at 6.5 million units, which the United Nations Human Settlements Programme projects could reach 22 million by 2040.[1]
Partnerships
Lhoopa has collaborated with the Asian Development Bank on initiatives related to green affordable housing.[2] It has also partnered with the Pag-IBIG Fund on programs related to housing access and sustainability.[12][13]
In 2024, Lhoopa was inducted into Endeavor, a global network for high-impact entrepreneurs.[14]
