Liam Jesunas (born July 18, 2015) is an American chess prodigy. As a Pre-K student, he won the 2020 US Chess/ChessKid K-12 Showdown, the virtual replacement for the canceled National K-12 Grade Championships.[1] Liam was the top rated player in the kindergarten section (US Chess: 1160) and finished first at the age of 5.[2] On November 20, 2022, Liam put up a perfect score, winning every game, in the 1st Grade section of the 2022 New Jersey K-12 Championship presented by the New Jersey State Chess Federation, earning him his first State Championship title.[3]
Chess career
In 2022, Liam played for the Colchester Junior Chess Club, Essex, England in the 4NCL, or Four Nations Chess League.[4]
In 2021, Liam began taking lessons from GM Daniel Naroditsky online at the Charlotte Chess Center.[5]
