Liftbyggarna

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Liftbyggarna is a Swedish-based company in ropeway technology. They design and manufacture chairlifts, tramways, gondolas, and surface tows for ski and amusement parks, in addition to urban people movers and material handling systems.

The first ski lift was manufactured in 1952 at Frösön outside Östersund, Sweden. Being a single-man company at the time, they only supplied a couple of smaller systems per year. Later, the company licensed ropeway technology from Müller, in Switzerland, which was manufactured locally. Liftbyggarna then acquired Alimak ropeways and concentrated on its own design. In the mid-70s, and for another 10 years, Liftbyggarna was the Scandinavian representative for Poma. Since the beginning of the 80s, Liftbyggarna has concentrated on its own designs. The company is a comparatively small supplier but has a stable group of customers. They have been successful at expanding into niches outside the core ski business and have landed some interesting international assignments. The Stockholm Globe Arena is one such example.

The company are also distributors of snow-making equipment and piste machines.
