Lightology is one of the largest contemporary lighting showrooms in North America, displaying a rotation of more than 3,000 contemporary lighting fixtures. [1] The 20,000 square foot contemporary lighting showroom and retailer is located on Chicago Avenue between Franklin St and Wells St in the River North Gallery District of Chicago, Illinois. Lightology is also an online retailer of lighting. Lightology works with and sells products from over 400 lighting manufacturers and product designers, including Tech Lighting, Artemide, Kartell, David Trubridge, Ron Rezek, PureEdge Lighting, and others.

Lightology was founded in 2001 in Chicago by President Gregory Kay. In addition to selling and displaying contemporary light fixtures like chandeliers, lamps, and pendants, Kay established Lightology as an event hub and lighting educational center for members of the trade. The showroom displays a variety of permanent, interactive exhibits on the properties of light and color, the history of electric lighting, and the emergence of LEDs as the future of lighting. Lightology often holds tours for design and architecture students and hosts lighting seminars, industry training sessions, and other events.

Lightology is the assignee of six US patents.
