Character history[edit | edit source]
Lilly's first appearance in Santa Barbara came in the middle of 1986. She helped Mason Capwell as he struggled in the aftermath of the death of his lover, Mary Duvall. Lilly always seemed to have the right thing to say to whoever needed advice. She fought against the construction of a casino in Santa Barbara and she convinced Hayley Benson to join her, which led to tragedy when Amy Perkins Wallace died in a fire that was started during one of their raids.
Lilly then revealed the real reason why she came to Santa Barbara - she was actually the biological daughter of Gina DeMott Capwell. When Gina was very young she had been raped and become pregnant. Gina's mother, Phyllis Blake, had lied to Gina that her baby had been stillborn. After realizing that Gina wasn't guilty of anything, Lilly forgave her and left town.
Lilly returned to Santa Barbara in 1991, running away from her past. During the 4 years that she had been gone, Lilly had gotten involved with the Las Vegas crime scene. She got into a debt and stole money from Lionel Lockridge, but Ted Capwell saved her. Lily sought love from Rafe Castillo, and after Ted's girlfriend Katrina Ruyker left, Ted and Lilly agreed to a plan to make Rafe and his girlfriend Angela Raymond jealous so they would break up, as Lilly wanted Rafe and Ted was interested in Angela. However, Lilly and Ted came to realize that they loved each other, stopped their plotting, and got married.
