Lim Hyeon-wook (Hangul: 임현욱) is a South Korean television director associated with SLL (formerly JTBC Studios). He is best known for directing the 2023 global hit romantic comedy series King the Land and the 2025 melodrama Surely Tomorrow.
Career
Lim began his career at JTBC, where he developed a reputation for his visually evocative storytelling and ability to handle diverse genres, from psychological melodramas to lighthearted romantic comedies. He gained significant critical attention for directing Reflection of You (2021), praised for its atmospheric cinematography.
In 2023, he directed the high-profile series King the Land, starring Lee Jun-ho and Im Yoon-ah, which became one of the highest-rated dramas in Korean cable television history and reached number one on Netflix's global non-English charts.[1] In late 2025, he returned with Surely Tomorrow (also known as Waiting for Gyeongdo), a romance starring Park Seo-joon.[2]
