Lincoln Road busway station is a planned pair of bus interchanges on Auckland's Northwestern Busway in New Zealand. They will be located either side of the Lincoln Road motorway overpass in the suburb of Henderson.[1] They will have shelters, and electronic real-time information at each stop.[1]
The next station southbound on the busway will be the Te Atatū interchange. The next station northbound on the busway will be Westgate busway station.
Each interchange will have separate platforms for local services and for services using the motorway, notably the WX1.[1]
History[edit]
Proposals for a busway to the northwest, including a station at Lincoln Road, go back to at least 2010.[2] At the time, a fully separated busway, like the Northern Busway, was viewed as the superior option, with bus shoulder lanes being viewed as an interim measure. In 2011, Auckland Transport moved to protect the route for future use.[3]
In 2020, the Labour government announced $100 million for improvements to bus services in the Northwest, a first step towards the busway.[4] According to Auckland Transport, work started on the necessary improvements at this station in mid-2022, and is scheduled for completion in April 2023.[1]
