List of Franklin characters

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This is a list of characters that appear in the Franklin the Turtle books and the animated television show Franklin.

Main[edit]

  • Franklin is a green turtle and the show's lead character. He is the older brother to Harriet. He has a pet goldfish, Goldie, and a stuffed dog named Sam. Franklin enjoys baseball, swimming, and hockey. He is best friends with Bear. He is capable of fully removing his shell, which is a combination of clothing and a backpack. He wears a red baseball cap and neckerchief. Noah Reid provided the voice of Franklin for the first five seasons of the television program. In the sixth season and the television movie, Back to School with Franklin, he was voiced by Cole Caplan. Cameron Ansell replaced Caplan as the voice in the U.S. language version of the Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure film. Graeme Jokic is the character's regular voice in the spin-off Franklin and Friends.
  • Bear is a brown bear and best friend to Franklin. Bear is one of the more mature characters in the show, preferring to resolve problems instead of hiding them. He has a large appetite, which earned him the derisive nickname "Snacks" in one episode. Bear is the strongest of Franklin's friends, and enjoys sports, particularly basketball. Beginning with the third season, Bear is usually seen wearing a blue vest unless he's swimming. This is in contrast to the other characters, who usually do not wear any sort of clothing (with the exception of Franklin, who is rarely seen without his cap and neckerchief.) Bear was voiced by Cody Jones in the first season of the show. Luca Perlman assumed the role for the second-fifth seasons, his last time for the role as Bear being the television movie, "Back to School with Franklin". Marc McMulkin assumed the role for the sixth season.

Snail considers Franklin to be his best friend, even though Franklin generally considers his best friend to be Bear. Snail is a very good (if rather slow) climber, once scaling a tall cliff to gather some crystals for the group. In one episode it was stated that it took Snail an hour to cross a short bridge across a stream. Although Snail is portrayed as a male character, he is voiced by Kristen Bone.

He can sometimes be a prankster. He has an older sister and a little brother.

He has two baby sisters named Tia (named after Fox's deceased grandmother who was the mother of Mr. and Mrs. Fox who died of natural causes before Mr. and Mrs. Fox were married on their birthday) and Shelia (named after Fox's great aunt who was Fox's grandmother's twin sister who died of natural causes before Fox's grandmother died). He is best friends with Rabbit and is usually seen with him. Fox has a crush on Badger, is seen talking to her a lot, and is teased about it in some episodes. He was voiced by Gil Filar for the first three seasons, Ali Mukaddam for Season 4 & 5 and Scott Beaudin for Season 6.
  • Mrs. Turtle is Franklin and Harriet's mother and Mr. Turtle's wife. She has no known occupation. Her occupation is possibly a housewife. Elizabeth Brown (who she is based on) has voiced Mrs. Turtle on all seasons and specials/movies to date. She grew up at a farm faraway from Woodland.
  • Mr. Turtle works at a paper mill. He is Franklin and Harriet's father and Mrs. Turtle's husband. He and Mrs. Turtle both first met each other when they were kids, and the Turtle family car was their wedding gift. He is known to fix things around the house. Franklin's father provides advice to Franklin and his sister Harriet. He and Franklin occasionally play sports, go on outings, and play golf, which Mr. Turtle is fairly good at, although Franklin finds the sport rather challenging. Note that in the first, fifth and sixth seasons of the program, Franklin uses a generic voice credits screen that only lists some roles and appears at the end of every episode. In the second to fourth seasons, voice actors/actresses were credited in the episodes that they appeared in. Most, if not all characters, that have speaking roles of any sort are now listed. Many of these, as well as many that have been mentioned, seem to flit on and off the series with little or no explanation.
