Main[edit]
- Shiraori (白織 Shiraori) / White (白 Shiro)
- Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka[1][2] (PV & CM), Aoi Yūki[3] (anime) (Japanese); Brianna Knickerbocker[4] (English)
- Nicknamed "Kumoko" by the fandom; she reincarnated as an initially "Nameless" a Teratect, a spider-type monster about the size of a dog, in the most dangerous dungeon in the world where she has to constantly fight to survive and slowly evolves into an incredibly powerful being. She is also the true antagonist of the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where she is the commander of the 10th Demon Army and manipulates Hugo for her own ends. Initially implied to be the reincarnation of Hiiro Wakaba, she is later revealed to have actually been just an ordinary spider that happened to be in the classroom at the time everyone got reincarnated and was implanted with Wakaba's memories by D.
- Ariel (アリエル Arieru)
- Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (Japanese); Veronica Taylor (English)[5]
- The current Demon Lord and progenitor of all the Teratects in the world. She confronts Kumoko after she finally escapes the labyrinth and tries to kill her, as she killed many of her kin. However, after multiple failed attempts, the two agree to a ceasefire and start traveling together, eventually putting their grievances aside and building a very strong grandmother-granddaughter relationship. She is also the secondary antagonist of the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where she wages war against humanity and is generally viewed as a tyrant by her own people.
- Sophia Keren (ソフィア・ケレン Keren Sofia) / Shouko Negishi (根岸彰子 Negishi Shouko)
- Voiced by: Ayana Taketatsu (Japanese); Ryan Bartley (English)[5]
- One of the classmates. She reincarnated as a vampire born to human parents due to a mutation. Bullied in her previous life with the nickname "Rihoko" (short for "Real Horror Girl") due to being ugly, she dislikes anything associated with her past self. She crossed paths with Kumoko when she was still a baby and was later taken in by her and Ariel after her home was destroyed in a war. She is also a major antagonist of the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where she aids Hugo under Shiraori's orders and faces off against Schlain's party several times.
- Wrath (ラース Rāsu) / Razu-Razu (ラズラズ Razurazu) / Kyouya Sasajima (笹島京也 Sasajima Kyouya)
- Voiced by: Ryōta Ōsaka (Japanese); TBA (English)[6]
- One of the classmates. He was reincarnated as a goblin enslaved by humans until he broke free after unlocking his unique skill, which raised his stats ten-fold at the cost of his sanity. Afterward, he went on a rampage, evolving into an oni in the process, until Shiraori defeated him and he joined her group. He is also an antagonist in the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where he is the commander of the 8th Demon Army and is fine with committing murder as he already views himself as "irredeemable".
- Merazophis (メラゾフィス Merazofisu)
- Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda[7]
- Sophia's butler; her parents entrusted her to him when their home was about to be destroyed in a war. However, they ended up being ambushed, forcing her to turn him into a vampire when his life was in danger. Though struggling with his fading humanity, he continues to strive to protect his mistress. He is also an antagonist in the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where he is the commander of the 4th Demon Army as well as Kunihiko and Asaka's arch-nemesis who destroyed their village.
- Güliedistodiez (ギュリエディストディエス Gyuriedisutodiesu) / Black (黒 Kuro)
- Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese); TBA (English)[6]
- A god who takes on the form of a man dressed in black armor and is the ruler of the dragons, nicknamed "Gulie". While concerned that the reincarnations might upset the world's balance, he has been ordered by his superior, D, not to interfere. He is also an old friend of Ariel and a minor antagonist in the secondary storyline, set 15 years later, where he is the commander of the 9th Demon Army.
- Ael (アエル Aeru), Sael (サエル Saeru), Riel (リエル Rieru), Fiel (フィール Fieru)
- Ariel's quartet of Puppet Teratects, fist-sized spider-type monsters that operate human-sized mannequins. While they and White are initially enemies, they grow close after they start traveling together and the latter gave their mannequins a make-over, giving them an almost human-like appearance. While they are incapable of speech, each still displays their own personal traits: Ael is the serious one, Sael the timid one, Riel the airheaded one, and Fiel the mischievous one.
Secondary[edit]
- Schlain Zagan Analeit (シュレイン・ザガン・アナレイト Shurein Zagan Anareito) / Shunsuke Yamada (山田 俊介 Yamada Shunsuke)
- Voiced by: Shun Horie (Japanese); Alejandro Saab (English)[8]
- One of the classmates and the protagonist of the secondary storyline, nicknamed "Shun". He was reincarnated as the fourth prince of the Kingdom of Analeit. Due to having had a sheltered upbringing, he has a very dense and naive personality. He later inherits the hero title following the death of his older brother, Julius, and ends up having to flee his Kingdom after Hugo frames him for committing a coup d'état.
- Karnatia Seri Anabald (カルナティア・セリ・アナバルド Karunatia Seri Anabarudo) / Kanata Ōshima (大島 叶多 Ōshima Kanata)
- Voiced by: Nao Tōyama (Japanese); Kira Buckland (English)[8]
- One of the classmates, nicknamed "Katia". She is reincarnated as the daughter of the noble house in the Kingdom of Analeit. She suffers from gender dysphoria due to having been a man in her previous life, which only grows more complicated when she starts developing romantic feelings for Schlain. Ultimately, she resolves that her past self is dead and fully embraces her new gender.
- Feirune (フェイルーン Feirune) / Mirai Shinohara (漆原美麗 Shinohara Mirai)
- Voiced by: Eri Kitamura (Japanese); TBA (English)[8]
- One of the classmates, nicknamed "Fei". She got reincarnated in the body of Schlain's pet earth dragon. A bully in her previous life, she sees her current predicament as karmic punishment and vows to better herself in this new life. After Schlain became the new Hero, she evolved into a light dragon and also gained a human form.
- Suelecia Analeit (スーレシア・アナレイト Sureshia Anareito)
- Voiced by: Yui Ogura (Japanese); Kira Buckland (English)[8]
- The second princess of the Kingdom of Analeit and Schlain's younger half-sister, nicknamed "Sue". She is a yandere with a brother complex, which is obvious to everyone except her brother. When Hugo overthrew Analeit, she was seemingly brainwashed and forced to assassinate her father while framing Schlain. However, it is later revealed that she was not being controlled at all and willingly cooperated in hopes of using the situation to boost Schlain's fame.
- Filimøs Harrifenas (フィリメス・ハァイフェナス Firimesu Harifenasu) / Kanami Okazaki (岡崎 香奈美 Okazaki Kanami)
- Voiced by: Kaya Okuno (Japanese); Cherami Leigh (English)[8]
- The class' homeroom teacher, nicknamed "Ms. Oka". She got reincarnated as an elf - and the daughter of the elf patriarch at that. Using a unique skill that allows her to identify reincarnations and have authority over them, she has been searching the world for her students. However, the skill comes with the catch that she can't freely talk about it, often forcing her to speak half-truths.
- Hugo Baint von Renxandt (ユーゴー・ベイント・フォン・レングザンド Hūgo Beinto von Renguzando) / Natsume Kengo (夏目健吾 Kengo Natsume)
- Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese); Xander Mobus (English)[8]
- One of the classmates and the main antagonist of the secondary storyline. He got reincarnated as the first prince of Renxandt Empire. Already egotistical in his previous life, his new royal upbringing turned him into a megalomaniac. Jealous of Schlain's popularity, he tried to have him assassinated, but it failed and he was stripped of his skills by Filimøs. However, rather than repent, this prompted him to make a deal with the Demons to overthrow the Kingdom of Analeit and attack the Elf Village as revenge.
- Yuri Ullen (ユーリーン・ウレン Yūri Uren) / Yuika Hasebe (長谷部結花 Hasebe Yuika)
- Voiced by: Aimi Tanaka (Japanese); Laura Post (English)[8]
- One of the classmates. She reincarnated into a poor family who left her to the Word of God church, where she eventually became a saintess. Scared and alone, she clung to the only Japanese-speaking thing around her: the system voice of the world's RPG system. This, along with her upbringing, turned into a religious fanatic. She later becomes an antagonist when the church sides with Hugo.
- Kunihiko Tagawa (田川邦彦 Tagawa Kunihiko)
- One of the classmates. He got reincarnated in a nomad tribe that regularly raided demon lands alongside his childhood friend Asaka, whom he had always had a crush on. However, one day, their village got massacred by Merazophis, leaving them as the only survivors. Afterward, he became an adventurer to become stronger and get revenge. He and Asaka are eventually found by Filimøs and brought to the Elf Village, where they joined Schlain's party.
- Asaka Kushitani (櫛谷麻香 Kushitani Asaka)
- One of the classmates. She got reincarnated in a nomad tribe that regularly raided demon lands alongside her childhood friend Kunihiko, whom she had always had a crush on. However, one day, their village got massacred by Merazophis, leaving them as the only survivors. Afterward, she followed Kunihiko as he became an adventurer to watch over him. They are eventually found by Filimøs and brought them to the Elf Village, where they joined Schlain's party.
Supporting[edit]
- Julius Zagan Analeit (ユリウス・ザガン・アナレイト Yuriusu Zagan Anareito)
- Voiced by: Junya Enoki (Japanese); TBA (English)[8]
- The former second prince of the Kingdom of Analeit and the previous Hero as well as Shun's older brother, whom the latter greatly looked up to. He once faced Kumoko in the main storyline, set 15 years ago, which left him with mild arachnophobia. When war broke out between the humans and demons, he was killed by a mysterious white girl later revealed to be Shiraori.
- Hyrince Quarto (ハイリンス・クォート Hairinsu Kuōto)
- Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu (Japanese); TBA (English)[5]
- Julius' best friend and a member of his party. He is the only one out of the group who survived their encounter with a mysterious white girl later revealed to be Shiraori. Afterward, he joined Schlain's party and began acting as a mentor-like figure for him. It is later revealed that he is actually a clone of Güliedistodiez created to watch over the current holder of the Hero title.
- Ronandt Orozoi (ロナント・オロゾイ Ronanto Orozoi)
- The court magician of the Renxandt Empire who is widely regarded as humanity's strongest mage. While initially arrogant due to his abilities, he was greatly humbled following a near-death encounter with Kumoko as he came to realize her own limits. Afterward, he developed an unhealthy infatuation with her and became obsessed with getting stronger, though he eventually remembered why he sought such strength in the first place: to protect people.
- Buirimus (ブイリムス Buirimusu)
- A monster tamer and an officer in the Renxandt Empire military. He was sent to investigate a monster outbreak caused by Kumoko scaring away all the monsters in the labyrinth and got his entire squad subsequently wiped out by her. Afterward, he was demoted for the failure. Later learning that his child, who is one of the classmates, was kidnapped, he desperately sought an achievement to return home. However, this prompted him to enslave Razu-Razu and his subsequent bad treatment of the goblin awakened his unique skill, resulting in him being killed by his own tamed monster.
Antagonists[edit]
- Potimas Harrifenas (ポティマス・ハリフェナス Potimasu Harifenasu)
- Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa[7]
- The patriarch of the elves and the main antagonist of the main storyline, as well as Ariel and Filimøs' father. While presented as a peace activist in the secondary storyline, the main storyline reveals that he is actually a mad scientist obsessed with obtaining immortality due to an immense fear of death and drains the planet's lifeforce to power his inventions, causing it to slowly collapse. Also, despite helping Filimøs search for her students, he only did so with the intend to then use them as guinea pigs in his experiments and even killed those he considered to be too dangerous. He is killed by Ariel when she destroys his soul during the Demons' attack on the Elf Village, ironically granting him a fate worse than death.
- Dustin LXI (ダスティンLXI Dasutin LXI)
- The pontiff of the Word of God religion and a major antagonist in both storylines, initiating the war that destroyed Sophia's home in the main storyline and aiding Hugo in the secondary storyline. However, he genuinely believes that his actions are for humanity's greater good. He also possesses a unique skill that allows him to reincarnate with his memories intact when he dies.
- Balto Phthalo (バルト・フィサロ Baruto Fisaro)
- Voiced by: Yūichirō Umehara (Japanese); TBA (English)[5]
- Ariel's right-hand man and the de-facto ruler of the demons in her absence, as well as a minor antagonist in the secondary storyline and a supporting character in the main storyline. While opposed to her restarting conflict with humanity, he is forced to support her lest she turn her overwhelming strength on demonkind.
- Bloe Phthalo (ブロー・フィサロ Buro Fisaro)
- Balto's younger brother and the commander of the 7th Demon Army, as well as a minor antagonist in the secondary storyline and a supporting character in the main storyline. Out of all the commanders, he was the most vocally opposed to Ariel restarting conflict with humanity and believed his brother would make a far better ruler, though he never acted on his words. He also had a crush on Shiraori, which was obvious to everyone except her. He was killed by Julius when war broke out between human and demonkind.
- Agner Ricep (アグナー・ライスプ Agunā Raisupu)
- The commander of the 1st Demon Army and a minor antagonist in both storylines. While playing the role of loyalist, he was actually secretly undermining Ariel's rule by supporting rebellions. However, Shiraori exposed his plot, forcing him to truly support Ariel. He was killed by Julius' party when war broke out between the human and demonkind.
- Sanatoria (サナトリア Sanatoria)
- The commander of the 2nd Demon Army and a minor antagonist in both storylines. Despite being a commander, she is a non-combatant who relies on her wits to win battles. She is also opposed to Ariel restarting conflict with humanity and is secretly planning to formulate a rebellion against her.
- Kogou (コゴウ Kogou)
- The commander of the 3rd Demon Army and a minor antagonist in both storylines. Despite being a large and physically imposing man, he is actually a shy, peace-loving individual. Because of this, he is opposed to Ariel restarting conflict with humanity but is too scared of her to take action himself, prompting him to join Sanatoria's rebellion.
- Darad (ダラド Darado)
- The commander of the 5th Demon Army and a minor antagonist in the secondary storyline. He is the only pure-blood demon genuinely loyal to Ariel.
- Huey (ヒュウイ Hyuui)
- The commander of the 6th Demon Army and a minor antagonist in both storylines. While opposed to Ariel restarting conflict with humanity, he was ultimately too scared of her to ever act on it. He was killed by Ronandt when war broke out between human and demonkind.
- Cylis (シリス Shirisu)
- The first prince of the Analeit Kingdom and Schlain's older half-brother, as well as an antagonist in the secondary storyline. Though first in line to the throne, he was privately worried about being disinherited by his more talented siblings. When this exact scenario came to pass when his father made Schlain his heir to keep him off the battlefield, it prompted him to ally himself with Hugo and launch a coup d'etat and kill the king whilst framing his brother. However, he ends up being brainwashed by Hugo and subsequently has his mind broken.
Others[edit]
- D / Hiiro Wakaba (若葉姫色 Wakaba Hiiro)
- Voiced by: Saori Hayami (Japanese); TBA (English)[9]
- One of the classmates. She was initially implied to be Kumoko's past self and appeared to be an otaku who was a victim of bullying. However, it is later revealed that she is actually a high-ranking god in disguise and the most beautiful girl in class; her would-be bullies were merely jealous. She is also the person who reincarnated her classmates, which she did just for fun.
