List of Total Wipeout episodes

Total Wipeout was a British game show, hosted by Richard Hammond and Amanda Byram, that first aired on 3rd January, 2009 and ended on 31st December, 2012. Each week, 20 contestants compete in a series of challenges in an attempt to win £10,000. These challenges are based in large pools of water or mud and generally involve large assault courses that participants must cross. 3rd January 2019 to 31st December 2022 is known as 10 years of Total Wipeout.

Champion: 'Handsome' Oli Oliver Clatworthy

• 'Goat boy' Michael was the 1st person to cross the Topple Towers (both sets). He was also the 1st person to win The Qualifier. Later, he also failed to make the Wipeout Zone.
  • 'Screaming Lord' Thomas was the 1st person to cross the Sucker Punch.
    • ' Handsome' Oliver was the closet to cross the Big Red Balls until episode 5 (his finger tips touched the fourth ball).
      • 'Handsome' Oliver was the 1st person and male to win The Sweeper.
        • ' Handsome Oliver posted the fastest time on the Wipeout Zone until Episodes 5, 7 and 8. He is also the 1st person to post a time under 2 minutes and is the 1st person to lose The Qualifier and win the Wipeout Zone.
          • 'Mr Nichols' Pete and 'Mrs Nichols' Sue are related husband and wife.
            • Elias set the slowest qualifier time ever in Series 1 (15:07) due to being stuck in the mud for over 8 minutes after falling off of the Topple Towers.
              • Terry was the only non celebrity to finish the qualifier over 6 minutes for a competing round 2 contestant.

****** Both William and Panos 'The Hairdressing Hercules' had to retire due to injury, so Tor 'The Tornado' and 'Housing project worker' Paul replaced them.
******* After the 5 Minute limit was up, Tor 'The Tornado', 'Lovely Little' Liam and 'Cabin Crew Member' George all did not finish the 2nd round of Dizzy Dummies, so the third round of Dizzy Dummies was the decider between them known as sudden death. This was the only time the 5 minute limit was used and the only time when the Dizzy Dummies' sudden death had been used. During this, 'Extreme' Steve and 'Judo' Justine did not compete in the third round of Dizzy Dummies because they already made it through to the Wipeout Zone and only completed the 2nd round.

• 'Forensic' Emma and William became the 2nd and 3rd people to cross the Sucker Punch ('Screaming Lord' Thomas was 1st).
  • 'Wonder Son' Matt was the 2nd person to clear the Topple Towers ('Goat boy' Michael was 1st).
    • 'Wonder Son' Matt and 'Wonder Dad' Alan are father and son.
      • 'Wonder Son' Matt was the 1st person to win The Qualifier and not make it to Dizzy Dummies.
        • 'Judo' Justine was the 1st female to win The Sweeper.
          • Tor 'The Tornado' was the only person who failed to make The Qualifier and make the 3rd Round and the Wipeout Zone.
            • 'Extreme' Steve set the slowest winning time in Total Wipeout history.
              • Panos 'The Hairdressing Hercules' was the 1st person to lose his shoes in The Qualifier. He lost his shoes while attempting to cross the Big Red Balls.
                • 'Cabin Crew Member' George is the 1st person to be 12th in The Qualifier and make it to Dizzy Dummies but failed to make the Wipeout Zone.
                  • Tor ‘The Tornado’ and ‘Cabin Crew Member’ George are the only two people to finish The Qualifier with a time of over 4 minutes and make it to Dizzy Dummies.
                    • 'Dr Do-little' David was the closest to the big balls until episodes 5 and 7. ('Handsome' Oliver was also closest to the big balls)

Champion: 'Headband' Dan Smith

• 'Headband' Dan was the 1st person to win The Qualifier and make the Wipeout Zone and was the 1st person to win both The Qualifier and Wipeout Zone.
  • 'Big' Ben was the 1st person and the 2nd man to win The Sweeper and fail to make the Wipeout Zone. He was also the closest to the Big Balls until episodes 5 and 7 ('Handsome' Oliver and 'Dr Do little' David were closest too)
    • 'Chatty' Perran was the 1st person to get 2nd in the 1st 2 rounds and was the 1st person to be 2nd in The Qualifier and fail to make the Wipeout Zone.
      • 'Action Man' Johnny was the 1st person to be last to qualify in the 3rd and 4th round although he won the first 2 rounds of Dizzy Dummies. He was the 1st person in The Sweeper to slip on the edge of his podium which caused him to fall.
        • 'Gymnast' Sian was the 1st female to win Dizzy Dummies.
          • 'Crazy Legs' Colin's actual time was 2'06 but on TV it was edited to be 2'05.
            • 'Action Man' Johnny wife ('Action Woman' Kim ) appeared in Series 2 Episode 7 of Total Wipeout.
              • ’Shouty’ Chris, ‘Gymnast’ Sian, ‘MC Philly’ Phil, ‘Headband’ Dan, Alison, ‘Chatty’ Perran and 'Action Man' Johnny were the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th people to cross the Leap of Faith.

Champion: 'Humble' Steve Jackson

• • 'Hairy' James was the 1st person to be 2nd on The Sweeper and make the Wipeout Zone.
    • 'Skippy' John is the 1st person to get 3rd in the 1st 3 rounds but after the 3rd round of Dizzy Dummies, he withdrew.
      • 'Humble' Steve is the first person to win the Wipeout Zone by under 10 seconds and was the 3rd male to win The Sweeper and was the first person to win the 1st 2 rounds as the man to beat.
        • There was a close sweeper for 'Girl power' Jodie and 'Circus' Joe to decide who would go through to Dizzy Dummies, and by nanoseconds, Amanda Byram declared that 'Circus' Joe hit the water before 'Girl power' Jodie which meant that 'Girl power' Jodie was through and 'Circus' Joe was out and 7th on The Sweeper.
          • 'Footy' Stuart is the 1st person to chicken out and the 1st person to step off his podium in The Sweeper.
            • 'PC' Tim's ex-wife Joy appeared in Series 1 Episode 7.
              • 'Cabbie' Deano, 'Skippy' John and 'Hairy' James gave some of the greatest falls from The Sweeper.
                • This was the 1st time everyone wore a helmet in The Qualifier.
                  • Olivia was the only person in all Total Wipeout history which her run in The Qualifier was completely unseen.

• 'Action Grand-Dad' Barry is the 4th person to cross the Sucker Punch ('Screaming Lord' Thomas, 'Forensic' Emma and William were 1st, 2nd and 3rd).
  • 'Queen of the Balls' Jo became the 1st person in Total Wipeout history who crossed the Big Red Balls. Later, 'Queen of the Balls' Carole also crossed the Big Red Balls.
    • Steve 'The Dentist' was the 1st man to be 12th in the qualifier and was the 1st person to be last to qualify in the 1st 2 rounds.
      • 'Dr Monkey' Heloise was the 2nd women to win The Sweeper.
        • 'Ginger Ninja' Dan, 'Action Granddad' Barry, 'Destiny' Joe, 'Dr Monkey' Heloise and 'Super Geek' Samuel was the 1st 5 people to cross the Rolling Logs.
          • Paul 'The Pool set the fastest Wipeout Zone time until Episodes 7 and 8.
            • 'Super Geek' Samuel was the 1st person to win The Qualifier and lose the Wipeout Zone.
              • 'Jumbo' James was the 1st person to be 3rd in The Qualifier and not make it to Dizzy Dummies.
                • Manda was so close to qualifying by 1 second.
                  • This was the 2nd time everyone wore a helmet in The Qualifier

Champion: 'Naked' Stevie Perte

• 'East End' Ben was the first person to cross the Wall Swing (Later, 'Dynamo' Joe and 'Lady' Lucy became the second and third people to the Wall Swing') and was the only non-celebrity to be 1st in The Qualifier and the 1st person to fall off his podium which resulted in 12th place in The Sweeper.
  • 'Just' Oli was the 1st person to be 3rd in the 1st 2 rounds and did not make the Wipeout Zone.
    • 'Lady' Lucy was the 1st person to be 12th in The Qualifier and make the Wipeout Zone. She also set the slowest ever Wipeout Zone time on a regular series and on Series 1. (7:52)
      • 'Naked' Stevie was the 4th male to win The Sweeper.
        • This was the 1st time on a regular episode that the top 3 qualifiers didn't make the Wipeout Zone.
          • 'Dynamo' Joe was the 1st person to be 2nd in The Qualifier and not make it to Dizzy Dummies.

Champion: John 'And His Beard' Wynne

• 'Super Boy' Kierron set the fastest Qualifier time in series 1 (1:13), was the 1st person ever on Total Wipeout history to not fall off anything on The Qualifier and was the 1st person ever on Total Wipeout who crossed the Big Red Balls and make the Wipeout Zone. In Total Wipeout history, he was the 3rd person to cross the Big Red Balls, the 5th person to cross the Sucker Punch and the 5th person to cross the Wall Swing.
  • 'Speedy Student' Anja become the 4th person to cross the Wall Swing and the 3rd female to win The Sweeper despite falling just after William 'the Shepard' and 'Super Boy' Kierron.
    • 'Grumpy' David was the 1st person to be last to qualify in the 2nd and 3rd round.
      • 'Tough guy' Jason was the only person to be 2nd in the qualifier and the 1st person to fall which resulted in 12th place in the Sweeper
        • John 'And His Beard' was the first person to win the Wipeout Zone by only 1 second and set the fastest Wipeout Zone time until the next episode.
          • 'Model' Jermaine was the 1st person to duck under The Sweeper.
            • Joy's ex-husband 'PC' Tim appeared in Series 1 Episode 4.
              • This was the 1st episode where every contestant fell off of The Sweeper.
                • 'Chocolate' Ben was so close to qualifying by one second.
                  • The Qualifier Record for Series 1 was broken twice with 'Tough Guy' Jason with a time of 1:19. Later on, 'Super Boy' Kierron beat that time with 1:13.

• James 'The Undertaker' set the fastest time on the Wipeout Zone in series 1 (1:16) and also the 5th man to win The Sweeper.
  • 'Colonel' Susan was the 1st female to win The Qualifier although she tied with James 'The Undertaker'.
    • 'Step-Meister' Royston was the 1st person to fall down the stairs in the Leap of Faith.

• 'Bouncy' Becky was the 1st person in Series 2 to win the 2nd round and failed to make the Wipeout Zone and was the 1st female in Series 2 to win The Sweeper.

    • 'Sunbed' Jonny's brother 'Not Jonny' Jeremy appeared in Series 3 Episode 1 of Total Wipeout.
      • 'Tiny' Kelly set the slowest Wipeout Zone time in Series 2.

Champion: 'Gymnast' Rachel Basford

• 'Everest' Alice was the 1st person on Total Wipeout Series 2 who crossed the Big Red Balls and was the 1st person in Series 2 to win the qualifier and not make it to Dizzy Dummies.
  • Although it wasn't seen 'Lorry Driver' Paul was the first to clear the Sucker Punch on Series 2. Later, 'Everest' Alice and 'The Mattinator' Matt (But just like 'Lorry Driver' Paul, 'The Mattinator’ Matt's footage wasn't seen) became the second and third people to cross the Sucker Punch.
    • 'Gymnast' Rachel was the first woman to win the Wipeout Zone and Total Wipeout.
      • It was the 1st time when no men won any rounds.
        • 'Gymnast' Rachel was the 1st person to win the next 3 rounds and was the 2nd women to win The Sweeper.
          • 'Nearly' Steve, 'Everest' Alice, 'Painty' Katie and 'Camp' Gary were the only 4 people to cross the Log-Off (both sets). However, 'Danger Ireland' Tom only crossed one set of the Log-Off.
            • 'Disco' Alistair 'Al' allegedly spent 4'33 dancing at the starting line which put him outside the top 12 but when the officials agreed to restart the clock, his time was 4'13 which put him in 11th place along with 'Last Twin Standing' Dan. This may have just been a joke, however, since the water that flows down the slide at the starting line was not seen starting during these scenes, implying that the air horn sound that started the clock was dubbed in.
              • 'Everest Alice was the 1st female to win the qualifier (not tied with anyone) and was the first person to win the qualifier by 1 second.

Champion:'Unassuming' Ricky Martin

• 'Romeo' Raymond and 'Olympic' Les were the 4th and 5th person to cross the Sucker Punch.
  • No one in this episode finished in under 2 minutes in The Qualifier and the Wipeout Zone.
    • 'Divine' Dave was the 1st male in series 2 to win The Sweeper. He and 'Couch-Potato' Comrie were the 1st 2 people to make the Lunar Landing. 'Couch-Potato' Comrie was the 2nd person to win the qualifier by 1 second ('Everest' Alice (Series 2 Episode 2) was 1st).
      • This was the 2nd time when every contestant fell off The Sweeper.
        • During the Sweeper, 'Red Card' Dan and 'Couch Potato' Comrie were hit but they was struggling to get up before the Sweeper arm came to their level, making them the only 2 people to be eliminated by an early bar.
          • The 12 fastest times in The Qualifir in this Episode were very competitive and were 36 seconds of each other.

1. 'The return of the headband' Dan and 'Knockout' Chris were the 1st 2 people to lose the Wipeout Zone twice.

2. 'Knockout' Chris set the fastest time in series 2 (1:21) in The Qualifier. He along with 'Queen' Rachel and 'Cow-Man' Aaron were the 13th, 14th and 15th people to cross the Sucker Punch. But when 'Cow-Man' Aaron crossed the Sucker Punch, the footage wasn't shown.

3. 'Drill 'Sergeant' James tied his record and was the first person to win the Wipeout Zone twice. He was also the 2nd person to win the Wipeout Zone but by only 1 second (John 'and his Beard' (Series 1 Episode 7) was 1st).

4. 'The return of the headband' Dan was the first person to get 3rd in every round.

5. 'Tiny' Kelly was the only female to not qualify for The Sweeper.

6. 'Nervous' Antony was the only champion to not qualify for The Sweeper although he was 1 second slower than 'Crouching Tiger Hidden' Adam.

7. Dan 'Cruise' of Episode 5 and 'Concorde' Carlos of Episode 8 chose not to return.

8. 'Scary’ Claire was the only person to win The Sweeper twice.

9. 'Cow-Man' Aaron was the only person to cross the Tightrope of Terror (Both Sets), while Queen Rachel (formerly 'Gymnast Rachel') crossed only the first set.

  • 'Scary' Claire became the third person (after 'Jiggedy Biggedy' Ali and 'Olympic' Les) to compete in Total Wipeout for a third time and was the 5th person to win The Qualifier by 1 second ('Everest' Alice (Series 2 Episode 2), 'Couch Potato' Comrie (Series 2 Episode 3), 'Dr Monkey' Heloise (Series 3 Episode 9) and 'Chitty Chitty Luke' Luke (Series 4 Episode 6) were 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.)
    • Charlotte 'Charlardo' was the 2nd person to run across the Sucker Punch (Jeff Braizer (Series 3 Episode 11) was 1st). She along with her boyfriend Riccardo 'Charlardo' and Jade 'With 1 Sock' crossed the Sucker Punch.
      • 'Bouncy' Jill set the slowest time all series, but it was faster than her slowest time ever (15:32)

• 'Arnie-ish' Ashley was the last person ever on Total Wipeout history to cross the Big Red Balls.
  • Riccardo 'The Italiano', Charlene 'Chaz Van Damme', and 'Non-Toff' William all crossed the Sucker Punch.
    • Leo 'The Leader' was the 6th and final person to lose the Wipeout Zone twice.
      • 'Non Toff' Will set the fastest Wipeout Zone time by a Non-Celebrity (tied with 'Great' Scott Pryor). He also became the 3rd and final person on Total Wipeout and 4th in history to win the Wipeout Zone twice. The other ones are 'Drill Sergeant' James Scott, 'Alaka' Dan Allam, 'Tapping' Tony Lee and 'Retired Baby Model' Nick Santo who were the first 2 people to win twice on American Wipeout to do this.
        • 'Non Toff' William also became the only person to win Total Wipeout twice and did not get muddy in either episode he was in. He also became the only person to win Terra Go Round twice.
          • 'High' Kia was the only contestant in a Champion of Champions show to get injured.
            • Gary 'Swayze' of Episode 1, 'My Favourite' Alasdair of Episode 2, Both 'Nitro' Nathan and 'Second Class' Michael of Episode 4 and 'Mad Scientist' Maja of Episode 6 all chose not to return.
              • This was the only time that everyone finished in under 3 minutes in The Qualifier and the Wipeout Zone.
                • Riccardo 'The Italiano' (also known as Riccardo 'Charlado') finished the Wipeout Zone in the same time as the old Wipeout Zone record which was set by 'Drill Sergeant' James (Series 2 Episode 8 and Series 2 Episode 9). He also set the fastest time ever for a 3rd place finisher.
                  • 'Jolly Hockey' Nics and 'Amateur' Adam were the only 2 champions who failed to make the 2nd round.
                    • Riccardo 'The Italiano' (formerly Riccardo 'Charlado'), 'Rock God' Jon and 'Just' Jade (formerly Jade 'with 1 sock') became the 4th, 5th and 6th people to compete in Total Wipeout 3 times, joining 'Jiggedy Biggedy' Ali (who competed 4 times), 'Olympic' Les and 'Scary' Claire.
                      • This episode had the fastest combined Wipeout Zone times ever. (3:07) Remarkably, many do not finish the Wipeout Zone that fast. Also, all 19 runners in the Qualifier finished within 1:04 of each other.
                        • The fastest 12 times in The Qualifier were very competitive and finished within 30 seconds of each other.
