Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released several hundred titles to home video since 1978, as well as direct-to-video features. They have been released on VHS, Betamax, LaserDisc, CED Videodisc, CD Video, DVD, Universal Media Disc, Blu-ray Disc and Ultra HD Blu-ray. These are most of the notable releases that Disney put out on home video.

Standard Videotape, Laserdisc, DVD, and Blu-ray Releases[edit]

These were the titles licensed by Disney to MCA DiscoVision for their new videodisc format.

1980 Fotomat titles[edit]

The first 13 titles put out for rental on March 4, 1980, when Disney was working with Fotomat to get into the video business. These titles were later made for sale along with rental in October 1980.

Number Title Release date Notes
10VS/10BS Pete's Dragon March 4, 1980 The first issue was 105 minutes, but it was later reissued in a 128-minute version under the same stock number, and every US video release since then has been of that version.

13VS/13BS Escape to Witch Mountain
14VS/14BS Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier On the first version of the cover, it is simply titled Davy Crockett

(The number at the beginning of each line is Disney's stock number for the VHS/Beta release. The VS and BS indicated retail sale (VF and BF in Canada), while issues with just a V or a B after the number were rental.)

1980–1983[edit]

In addition to the 13 Fotomat titles being made for sale in late 1980, this is the release chart of Disney features from 1980 to 1983.

1984 titles repackaging[edit]

Starting in mid-1984 many earlier Disney videos as well as some new titles were repackaged with white clamshells.

Limited Issues (1999)[edit]

These nine films were released on DVD in 1999 as "Limited Issue" releases. These were exclusive to DVD, although many of them are bare-bones releases with no extras and sub-par video transfers. This line was Disney's first exploration into DVD with their animated feature films. Several of these would go on to be reissued as part of the Gold Classic Collection, which had the same disc with a different label.
