List of actors by total box-office gross
This is a list of the highest-grossing actors and actresses of all time by the combined box-office grosses of their films in the United States and Canada, according to Box Office Mojo.[1]
The "Number of Films" aggregate does not include films in which the actor's role was a cameo, as an extra, or primarily voice acting, and those films are therefore not included in the "Total Domestic Gross" nor the "Average Gross per Film" calculations. The "Highest-Grossing Film" column, however, does include these films, and in many cases (as with Tom Hanks in Toy Story 3), the actor's biggest box-office success may be a film that is not even counted in their total gross. However it does include it in this instance
This statistic does not reflect the actual salaries paid to each actor for each film; it is not a list of the highest-earning actors. Instead, it is better interpreted as a measure of celebrity star power in bringing paying customers to movie theaters. The actual rankings and box-office totals are subject to continuous change and are current as of January 4th, 2014 and the top 10 are accurate currently as of January 4th, 2014. Grosses are in millions and individual film grosses are not adjusted for inflation.
