Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan after the fall of Kabul in August 2021, there have been two drone strikes in the country. 12 fatalities and one injury in the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have been reported as having occurred as a result of the airstrikes.

2021[edit]

  • 29 August: A U.S. airstrike targeted a vehicle carrying a suspected ISIL-K suicide bomber. Ten people were reportedly killed during the strike, including six children, who were close to the target vehicle.[3] Some of those killed had previously worked for international NGOs and held visas allowing them entry to the United States.[4][5]
