- Moonlight (2016 film) set and shot in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami. At the 74th Golden Globe Awards Moonlight won Best Motion Picture – Drama and was nominated in five other categories. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, along with Best Supporting Actor for Ali and Best Adapted Screenplay for Jenkins and McCraney, from a total of eight nominations.

- There's Something About Mary (1998) Set and shot in Miami. The film was placed 27th in the American Film Institute's 100 Years, 100 Laughs: America's Funniest Movies, a list of the 100 funniest movies of the 20th century. In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted it the fourth-greatest comedy film of all time.

- The 1998 Will Smith song Miami is about the city of Miami. The music video was shot and filmed in Miami.
- Miami native and rapper Pitbull has paid homage to Miami in many of his songs over the years.
- Miami-influenced, Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, hit the popular music scene with their Cuban-oriented sound and had hits in the 1980s with "Conga" and "Bad Boys".[2]
- Miami Bass, spawned artists like 2 Live Crew (featuring Uncle Luke), 95 South,[3] Tag Team,[4] 69 Boyz,[5] Quad City DJ's, and Freak Nasty. Examples of these songs are "Whoomp! (There It Is)" by Tag Team in 1993, "Tootsee Roll" by 69 Boyz in 1994, and "C'mon N' Ride It (The Train)" by the Quad City DJ's in 1996.

- Jersey Shore (TV series) (Season 2) was set and shot in Miami which aired in 2010.
- Miami Vice is an American television crime drama that starred Don Johnson as James "Sonny" Crockett and Philip Michael Thomas as Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover
- Nip/Tuck focuses on a plastic surgery center and follows the personal and professional lives of its founders Dr. Sean McNamara and Dr. Christian Troy (portrayed by Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon respectively). Seasons 1–4 are based in Miami.

- Grand Theft Auto (1997) features the fictional Vice City, which is loosely based on Miami, as one of its settings.
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) is set in a redisgned version of Vice City, more accurate to Miami, in the year 1986.
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006) is a prequel to GTA: Vice City, set in 1984's Vice City.
- Driver (1999) and Driver 3 (2004) feature various parts of Miami.
- The cult video game Hotline Miami (2012) is entirely based in Miami.
- Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number (2015) is both a prequel and sequel to Hotline Miami, also set in Miami
- Scarface: The World Is Yours (2006) is a pseudo-sequel to the 1983 film, entirely based in 1980s' Miami.
- Street Racing Syndicate (2005) features a level set in Miami.
- Hitman 2 (2018) features a location in Miami.
