The high rises of Townsville as of 2018 are listed below, the current tallest structure is the Grand Chancellor hotel at 76 m (249 ft). The building has become well known as a local landmark due to the fact that it looks like a giant sugar shaker.[2][3] The odd shape of the building has been said to represent the importance of sugar to the Townsville port and area.[4] It is expected in coming years as the city is rapidly growing new projects will be added to the skyline.
