This is a list of unusual football matches. This list includes only unique or extremely rare circumstances at association football matches, noted as being unusual by multiple sources. Oxford Dictionaries defines the word "unusual" as "not habitually or commonly occurring or done" and "remarkable or interesting because different from or better than others."[1]

- The Zulus at Bramall Lane, 1879 – a team played Sheffield, dressed as Zulu warriors following the Anglo-Zulu War.[2]
- East Lancashire derby, 1891 – a cold game in which all of the Blackburn Rovers players were either sent off or walked off the pitch in protest except for their goalkeeper, Herbie Arthur.[3]
- Disgrace of Gijón, 1982 – in which the teams appeared to collude.[4]
- Barbados 4–2 Grenada (1994 Caribbean Cup qualification), 1994 – in which it was in both teams' interests to score own goals.[5]
- Battle of Bramall Lane, 2002 - a violent match which was abandoned when one team had only six players left on the pitch.[citation needed]
- The Other Final, 2002 - a match between Bhutan and Montserrat, the two lowest ranked national football teams in the world.[citation needed]
- AS Adema 149–0 SO l'Emyrne, 2002 – a record score of 149 goals – all of them own goals.[6]
