List of useful Unicode symbols

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This page contains list of few useful, significant, popular or frequently used Unicode symbols, ligatures (joined letters or symbols), glyphs, homoglyphs (letters of one language-script which look like or appear as another letter or symbol from a different language script) or homographs or characters, which are not present in mobile or desktop device's keyboard as keys or buttons.

This list is displaying/focusing on various single/individual Unicode symbols or characters or ligatures from many different Unicode language scripts, which looks like containing or appearing as combination of multiple latin/english characters or homoglyphs or homographs.

Usage Of These Unicode Symbols[edit]

Various groups of symbols or characters are shown, separated by section & columns, so that they can be found quickly here by users in their mobile or desktop web-browsers, from this single webpage, (either by manually scrolling & searching for symbol in this page, or by searching a symbol's name using the Cmd+F (⌘+F) or Ctrl+F key-buttons based "Find" or "Search" option in their desktop web-browser, or by using mobile web-browser's own "Find" or "Search" for word option, to find the name of symbol in this webpage). This single page will allow skip searching through multiple Unicode symbols webpages, if the symbol is significant & included here.

After user finds the symbol, user can either select the symbol in desktop web-browsers by using mouse or pointing device, or user can hold finger on the symbol in mobile web-browser to select it, then user can copy (Ctrl+C ⧉) and paste (Ctrl+V 📋) into other webpage, documents or apps.

In below, inside each column, each of the text-line's or each box's left-most side symbol (or set of symbol) is showing the Unicode symbol, then symbol's hexadecimal Unicode character code-point numbers are shown, then symbol's name in latin letters are shown, or it's description or alternatives usage or synonym names are shown. In some box or line, the left-most-side 1st symbol is displaying the Unicode symbol/glyph, then an equal symbol "=" is shown, and then it's latin/english counterpart is shown, so user or viewer who is searching in this page can either use the "=" equal symbol at left side of their search term, to quickly find an equivalent ligature or homoglyph symbol.

Single CJK Looks Like Multiple Latin Characters[edit]

There are many individual CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) Unicode characters or symbols, which are homoglyphs or homographs, that is, they look like or appear as ligature of multiple characters or symbols of latin/english language script. These type of ligature looking symbols are often used by users for textual messaging or ASCII-art or other form of artistic expressions.
More info: There are various websites (ScarfBoy, ComPart, etc), which can show other CJK alternatives characters shown below.

Special Typography Symbols[edit]

*  00AD soft hyphen - is shown where it is inserted in a word if the word is too long for the line and breaks just after the soft hyphen. Otherwise the hyphen is invisible. In several wordprocessors soft hyphen can be entered by holding the control key and at the same time pressing the hyphen key, and is shown as a hyphen with gray background.
* 200B zero-width space - provides a non-printing word separator, an invisible line break opportunity.
* ‌ 200C zero-width non-joiner - non-printing character to separate two characters that would otherwise produce a ligature.
