Little Moons is an ice cream brand that imitates mochi. It became especially popular after being subject to several TikTok memes. [1]

Description[edit]

They are ice cream balls that are in the style of mochi, they use a variety of flavours that use a rice based outer coating. Much of the range is vegan and gluten free. The founders of Little Moons, Howard and Viven Wong, started out supplying restaurants in London before setting up the Little Moons company in 2010. The product was launched in shops in 2015[2]. [3] It is also marketed as a low calorie ice cream, typically having 85 carlories per ball.

The ice creams are produced at a dedicated factory in London.[4]

Flavours[edit]

Flavours include Coconut, Vanilla, Passionfruit & Mango, Strawberry, Raspberry, Salted Caramel, Vegan Chocolate, Pistachio and many others. [5]. There are also cake based products as well.

Reception[edit]

The product went viral on TikTok and other social media, which lead to increased sales and also shortages.[6][7]

Sales and retail[edit]

It is sold in many supermarkets as well as pop up shops in London. There is also an online shop and delivery with food apps. Aldi & Lidl made their own competitor versions.
