History

Live Life Give Life was founded in 2006 by Emily Thackray and Emma Harris, both of whom were living with cystic fibrosis.[3] The organisation began as an awareness initiative centred on the phrase “Live Life Give Life”, using public messaging to prompt conversation about organ donation, and later developed into a formal charitable organisation.[4]

Activities

Live Life Give Life delivers public awareness campaigns and educational initiatives focused on organ donation. Its activities include community engagement, talks and presentations, public events, and the distribution of informational resources.[5][6] The charity also supports a limited number of welfare and research-related projects connected to transplantation.[7][8]

Partnerships

Live Life Give Life works with a range of organisations involved in health, education, and social welfare to support its educational and awareness objectives. These include partnerships with Orgamites on child-focused health education, as well as collaboration with transplant research bodies.[9] The charity has also participated in joint awareness initiatives such as Orgtober, delivered alongside public health and community partners.[10][11]

Lewis Capaldi: Someone You Loved

In 2019, the charity partnered with Lewis Capaldi on a music video for his song “Someone You Loved”, featuring Peter Capaldi, which was released as part of their Let Love Live On Campaign.[12][13] It reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, and was nominated for the 62nd Grammy Award for Song of the Year. It later won the 2020 Brit Award for Song of the Year.[14][15][16]

Governance

Live Life Give Life is governed by a board of trustees responsible for overseeing its activities and strategic direction, including film director Roydon Turner, who serves as CCO as well as executive chairman of Orgamites, and Professor Luke Yates, a senior researcher in genome stability.[17][18]
