Llamale H is an LGBT film festival held in Montevideo, Uruguay. The festival is celebrated in October, offering free entry to film productions related to sexual diversity and gender. José María Romero is the current executive producer of the initiative.[1]

In 2006, the LGBT organization Llamale H promoted sexual diversity rights through the cinema. Francisco Dalmao developed the original idea and in September launched the first edition of the festival with the exhibition of 20 Centimeters (Ramón Salazar, 2005).[2] After the death of Dalmao, Mercedes Martín took over the direction of the festival until 2016, when was succeeded by José María Romero.[2]

In 2007, the Llamale H created a research initiative called Área Académica Queer Montevideo. Since 2008, the organization has toured in Uruguay for promoting LGBT rights through workshops supported with films.[2]

In 2018, Cuba was an invited country and several Cuban LGBT films were projected at the festival.[3] In 2020, the festival was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4] They had a controversy with the Uruguayan telecommunications company ANTEL due to the company didn't allow to upload the content of the festival on its video streaming platform Vera TV, despite an agreement with the National Institute of the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual.[5] Antel justified the decision by pointing out that the content was marked for maturity audience. However, the organizers of Llamale H remarked that the platform has contents that are not suitable for all the audiences.[6]
