Loktak Day
Loktak Day is an annual event to save the freshwater lake and wildlife found in Loktak and Keibu Lamjao,[1] held in October every year at the periphery of the Loktak Lake, the world's only floating Island made by Phumdis in Manipur, India. [2]It is organized by the "Loktak Ningshing Numit Committee", also known as the "Loktak Day celebration committee", every year since 1990.[3]
Goal
This event is organised for discussing the present scenario of the Loktak lake and the measures to preserve its natural form.[4]
Locations
The event is generally observed at Loktak Lairembi Lampak, in Thanga Island, the largest island in the Loktak Lake.
Themes
The theme of the event for 2018 was "Save Loktak, Our Life".
