Lola Nieto (born 1985) is a Spanish poet, essayist, and performance artist who writes in Spanish.
Biography
Nieto was born in Barcelona in 1985. She earned a PhD in Hispanic Philology at the University of Barcelona with a dissertation on the Spanish writer Chantal Maillard. She works as a secondary school teacher of language and literature.[1]
Between 2012 and 2022 she co-edited the digital magazine Kokoro, dedicated to experimental poetics. She later co-directed the publishing project Kokoro Libros, which translated and published contemporary poetry, including works by Japanese poet Ryoko Sekiguchi.
Her published poetry collections include Alambres (2014), Tuscumbia (2016), Vozánica (2018), Caracol (2021), and La isla desnuda (2024). Her work has been presented at international poetry festivals in Spain, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Romania, and Japan.
Nieto’s style has been associated with experimental and interdisciplinary poetics, combining elements of poetry, prose, performance, and visual art. Critics have noted her interest in sound, repetition, and the limits of language.[2]
