Lolita Anime (ロリータアニメ Rorita Anime) is a collection of three adult OVAs produced by Nikkatsu Video. It is based on the manga and characters created by Aki Uchiyama, a mangaka who was influential during the early 1980s "lolicon boom" in Japanese manga. Nikkatsu Video recruited Uchiyama as a creative influence for this series, similar to Fumio Nakajima's involvement with Wonder Kids' Lolita Anime, the first hentai OVA. The Nikkatsu series is best known to English-speaking fans as "the other Lolita Anime".[1]
Production[edit]
Earlier in 1984, Lolita Anime was produced and released by the amateur studio Wonder Kids. The script and designs of the first two episodes were based on Fumio Nakajima's manga. Following the release of Cream Lemon by Soeishinsha and Fairy Dust Co., more anime inspired by the "lolicon boom" went into production. Nikkatsu Video then began producing their own Lolita Anime series. Nikkatsu had been known for producing "romantic porno", but the OVA series was their first original erotic anime work.
At the time, Uchiyama was best known for his manga series Andoro Trio (あんどろトリオ Andoro Torio) serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion. Much of the manga involved diapers and Omorashi, and likewise, Nikkatsu's Lolita Anime uses these themes. Each OVA also stars a girl named Aki, named for Uchiyama, but all three protagonists are unrelated to each other.
It was alleged that the first two episodes of Nikkatsu's Lolita Anime would be released in theatres on New Year's Day in 1985, but this never came to pass, because the OVAs failed the Eirin examination.[2] Eirin refused to evaluate the first OVA due to the child abuse themes, and nudity in the second OVA was ordered to be censored.

The Nikkatsu Lolita Anime series received mostly negative reviews among otaku audiences.[3] The animation quality and surrealist stories were cited as major detriments.
