London City Football Club is an English football club and academy based in London and Suffolk, England. The club was established in 2016 initially as a Women's football club, with the plan to introduce a men's academy in 2017 and enter the National League System to achieve professional status.
Women[edit]
The club has expressed interest in obtaining a licence to play in the FA Women's Super League following the plans to expand the league to 24 teams.[1] The club consists of a semi-professional academy that will play friendly matches against teams in the top level of the women's football leagues in Europe, and compete in the FA Women's Cup from 2017.
A development team is registered to compete in the Suffolk Girls and Women's Football League for the 2016/2017 season,[2] which will remain based in London and travel to Suffolk for league matches.[3]
Men[edit]
A Men's first team is planned to enter the National League System at step 6, and merge with the Women's Academy in 2017.
