From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The London Greenhouse Pioneers are an English basketball team based in Central London of the United Kingdom with various youth teams for both boys and girls as well as a Senior Men's which currently competes in the second division of the NBL (National Basketball League)[1], also known as the English Basketball League. The club's home arena is located in the Barbican area of Central London, where they share a facility with City, University of London.

History[edit]

Greenhouse Sports was founded in 2002 by Michael de Giorgio, who recognized a need for sports coaching in the London area. The original sports program helped teenagers and worked in conjunction with the Metropolitan police; however, after much success, in 2004 Greenhouse moved into schools and expanded its overall locations and teams.[2]. The consistent growth of Greenhouse has resulted in additional sporting teams as well as a Men's club, which was founded in 2008 as the Giants and later renamed as Pioneers. They currently compete in the English Basketball League, which is the second tier of basketball in the country. In 2012, they were bolstered by the addition of former Serbian pro Predrag Krneta as their head coach who was previously a great shooting forward with experience playing for teams of the former Yugoslavia, England and Austria. [3] He has been voted Coach of The Year multiple times in his tenure. [4]
