London Buses route 488 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Dalston Junction and Bromley-by-Bow, it is operated by it is operated by Tower Transit.
History[edit]
Route 488 commenced operating on 5 July 2008 between Bromley-by-Bow Twelvetrees Crescent and Kenninghall Road. The route was introduced to replace route S2. The route was initially operated by First London.[1]
As of 30 August 2008, You can get the 488 route 2 stops directly outside Tesco's to Twelvetrees Crescent to board a northbound bus towards Clapton instead of having to use the underpass or crossing the Road.[2]
On 27 February 2010, it passed to East London operating from their West Ham (WH) garage.[3]
On 4 June 2011, the route was extended from Clapton Pond to Dalston Junction station.[4][5]
On 28 February 2015, the route passed to Tower Transit operating from their Lea Interchange (LI) garage.[6]
Incidents[edit]
On 14 September 2011, a man named Tim Smiths (aged 32) was punched and stabbed in the stomach and leg when coming to the aid of two women who were being harassed on the 488 route in Dalston.[7][8]
