Lonnie Garcia
Lonnie Garcia is a Mexican-American illustrator, comic book author, and designer. He is best known for his graphic novel Putty Pygmalion, which won the 2025 Lambda Literary Award for Best LGBT Comic.[1]
Career
Originally from Northern California,[2] Garcia draws inspiration from surreal horror, vintage media, nature, and his personal life.[3]
He began his career contributing to various comic anthologies, including Rainbow Reflections (2019), Strange Waters (2020), Ambrosia (2021), and Mañana: Latinx Comics (2021).[4]
In 2024, he published his first solo graphic novel, Putty Pygmalion, through the independent publisher Silver Sprocket.[5]
Awards and Recognitions
- 2022: Won a Lambda Literary Award (Best LGBT Erotica) for his contributions to the Ambrosia anthology.[6]
- 2024: Putty Pygmalion was selected for the New York Public Library's list of best new adult comics.[3]
- 2025: Won the Lambda Literary Award (Best LGBT Comic) for Putty Pygmalion.[1]
