Lopamudra Renuka (Lopa R.) (born 26 April 1978) is a Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar (2012) award winning poet in the Malayalam-language, which is spoken in the south Indian state of Kerala.

Early Life[edit]

Born in Ayaparambu Kottaram in Haripad town in Alappuzha District, Kerala, she is the daughter of late Muralidharan and Renuka. Her father Muralidharan died at the age of 32 years when Lopa was barely three years old. Her late mother Renuka was a retired treasury official and died in 2019. At a very young age, Lopa was greatly influenced by her late grandfather R. K. Kottarathil, who was a poet and a storyteller. Lopa is married to Manoj Haripad (Kaarikkaamadom) and has a son named Harishankar.

Career[edit]

In the year 2000, during her Masters at Bishop Moore College, her first poem ‘Manasu’ (mind) was published in Mathrubhumi (a regional newspaper). She was serving as an English teacher at Haripad Government Higher Secondary School when she was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar Award in 2012.[1]. Now Lopa teaches at the Alagappa Nagar Panchayat Government Higher Secondary School, Thrissur[2]
