Lori Ann Bartley is an African-American Republican political candidate running against Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee for U.S. Representative in TX-18.[1][2][3][4] She is considered a Tea Party movement candidate.[5] She has been the most active Republican candidate, visiting frequently throughout Congressional District 18.[6]
She is a direct descendant of former Radical Republican Texas State Senator Matthew Gaines who established free public education in Texas.[7][8] She is listed in the Eagleton Institute of Politics' race to watch.[9]
