In 1960, Nort Thornton, who later became the head coach at CAL (a.k.a University of California, Berkeley Men Swim team) started Foothill Aquatic Club. In 1974, Foothill Aquatic Club was renamed to Los Altos Aquatic Club (LAAC). In 1990, LAAC expanded from Los Altos to Mountain View, and changed the name to Los Altos Mountain View Aquatic Club (LAMVAC).[2]
