"Love Is the Knife" is the third single from Bonnie Tyler's country inspired album, Rocks and Honey (2013). It was written by Nashville-based songwriters J.D. Leonard and Jim Sells, and released by Labrador Music in Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand on 16 September 2013. The single failed to chart worldwide. The lyrics depict Tyler describing her heartbreak after a breakup.
Background and release[edit]
The song received no promotion before its release on 16 September 2013. Tyler only performed the song once when making an appearance on Danish television.[1]

"Love Is the Knife" was written by J.D. Leonard and Jim Sells.
Critical reception[edit]
The song received a positive review from So So Gay within their full album review of Rocks and Honey. They referred to the song as "anthemic," with a powerful beat, strong vocals and mature songwriting, and concluded with "it is this sort of song that the trademark Bonnie Tyler vocals suits so well."[2] Music OMH described the song as "clutter", and that it "miss[es] an over the top hair metal guitar solo."[3]
