Love Lee is the fourth album by K-pop duo AKMU. Released on August 21, 2023 via YG Entertainment, the album includes the singles "Love Lee" and "Fry’s Dream". It debuted at number one on Circle Album Chart and sold over 1.3 million album copies in its first week of release, becoming the group's fourth consecutive number-one album.

Background[edit]

During a press conference held in Seoul on Monday, the siblings introduced their new single, a two-track package comprising two songs, "Love Lee" and "Fry's Dream." The single captures the duo's cheerful and buoyant spirit, reviving it from some of the pair's earlier works. According to Chan-hyuk, the new song, "Love Lee," can be seen as the second edition of the band's debut title song, "200%." "With '200%,' We sang with a naivety, unaware of what the public wanted from us. We put ourselves out there and sang what we wanted with confidence. Since then, we've explored different genres, and now I think we know a tad better about what people expect from us. 'Love Lee' is a song that we wrote as a gift for them," said Chan-hyuk, the song's main composer and sole lyricist.[1]

Promotion[edit]

YG Entertainment released a music video teaser to promote the single.[2]

Composition[edit]

The title track, "Love Lee," blends acoustic tones and rhythmic drums with the duo's sensuous vocals, offering a delightful reminder of their previous love songs. Its title is a creative combination of the word "lovely" and the siblings' last name, "Lee."

There's also a bonus track called "Fried Egg's Dream" featuring a lively synthesizer sound and a catchy chorus. The lyrics, personifying fried eggs, convey a comforting message to all listeners. The strong support of fans after the duo sang the tune at a concert in 2014, when AKMU officially debuted, is known to have played a role in the addition of the bonus track.[3]
