Lowbrow Customs is an e-commerce company based in Brunswick, Ohio that designs, produces, and sells motorcycle parts, apparel and accessories. Lowbrow Customs specializes in parts for chopper and bobber motorcycles in addition to supplying custom and replacement parts for Harley Davidson, Triumph, and other make motorcycles.

History[edit]

In 2004, Tyler Malinky founded Lowbrow Customs. Originally based in Parma, Ohio, Lowbrow Customs produced motorcycle chopper-oriented t-shirts and stickers. Malinky designed logos and products sold online. In 2007, Lowbrow Customs relocated to Hinckley, Ohio added an assortment of motorcycle parts and apparel to the product offering.[1]

In 2009, Tyler Malinky hired his first employee, Kyle Malinky, his older brother, to develop the website and brand.[2]

In 2012, the company moved to a warehouse in Media, Ohio and then moved again in 2015 to its current location in Brunswick, Ohio. In 2016, Tyler was awarded the Medina County Economic Development Corp’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.[3]

Events[edit]

In 2010, Lowbrow Customs hosted the first The Lowbrow Getdown, an annual motorcycle camping event hosted at Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, Ohio with over 1000 attendees. This event featured camping, swimming, and live music.[4]

The Lowbrow Swap & Meet is a free, semi-annual motorcycle swap meets at its warehouse in Brunswick, Ohio. Hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts attend this event every year and features 30-100 vendors.[5]

In 2015, Lowbrow Customs co-founded the first Fuel Cleveland event, an annual motorcycle show based in Cleveland, Ohio. Fuel Cleveland is a curated, art gallery-style event that showcases motorcycles and the surrounding culture; including painting, fine art and photography. It is a free-to-the-public, one-day event.[6]

Motorcycle Racing[edit]

Lowbrow Customs has been entering motorcycle land speed racing events at the Bonneville Salt Flats since 2010, setting their first record in 2011.[7] Since then, Tyler Malinky has set land speed records in 8 classes on motorcycles powered by vintage Triumph Engineering engines.[8] These records have been set on his 1955 Triumph "Poison Ivy" and dual-engine 1955 Triumph "Double Vision".[9] Kyle Malinky has set 3 class records on his 1967 Triumph motorcycle.[10]

Scholarships[edit]

In 2017 Lowbrow Customs partnered with Cuyahoga Community College to create the Lowbrow Customs Scholarship to promote USA manufacturing. It provides $5,000 annually to students in financial need who are pursuing workforce training. In 2018 Lowbrow Customs worked with Lincoln Electric to create the endowed Lowbrow Customs Scholarship for the Lincoln Welding School. This annual scholarship is administered by the American Welding Society.[11]
